One Ticket in Oregon Lottery Won $1.326 Billion Powerball Historic Jackpot
After a nerve-wracking delay on Saturday night, the $1.326 billion jackpot finally found its lucky winner – and it landed right here in Oregon! This historic win marks the eighth-largest lottery prize in U.S. history and the biggest win ever in the state.
The winning numbers, drawn at 2:29 AM ET on Sunday after the delay, were 22, 27, 44, 52, and 69, with a Powerball of 9. Oregon Lottery did confirm the sale location within the Portland city limit but the exact store name is unknown.
After New Year’s Day Powerball witnessed 41 consecutive attempts without a jackpot winner and finally in a late drawing, a historic Powerball jackpot win went to the Oregon Lottery. Now, Oregon can be called a billionaire!
“I want to congratulate the winner on this life-changing moment,” exclaimed Jenny Meadows, Deputy Director of the Oregon Lottery. “No one in Oregon has ever won a prize on this scale,” she continued, “and it’s inspiring and stimulating for our staff and players.”
This win shatters Oregon’s previous Powerball records. The largest prize ever claimed in the state before this was a $340 million jackpot back in 2005. With an earlier win of $150.4 million claimed by a Salem resident in 2018. However, this $1.326 billion jackpot takes the state’s lottery history to a whole new level.
However, unlike some lottery jurisdictions, Oregon does not allow winners to remain anonymous. This means the lucky individual’s identity will eventually be made public, unlike winners in some other states. Details regarding the winner’s plans for the prize money will likely be revealed at a press conference after they claim their winnings.
